Join Papakura Mayor Calum Penrose at Ardmore Airport on Sunday February 14 and Ride the Runway. The 2010 Mayoral Challenge will be Papakura’s last such event, and it’s the first chance cyclists of all ages will have to ride the tarmac of the busiest airport in New Zealand!

Arrive early for bike checks at 3.30 pm, the ride starts at 4.00 pm. There are two Avanti bikes to be won – one child-sized and one adult-sized, along with spot prizes.

SECURITY CHARGE AT
PARK AND RIDE

A security charge of $2.00 per day is now payable for all users of the Papakura Park and Ride car park at the Papakura rail station.

It offsets the cost of providing security staff at the Park and Ride.

There are a range of free all-day car parks in the town centre including the Davis Car Park at the northern end of town and the ground floor of the two-level car park at Accent Point in East Street. Farmers Car Park in O’Shannessey Street also provides for all day parking and has security monitoring services. Read more.

Papakura District Council is offering an electronic information service to help the people of Papakura stay up to date.

Papakura Golf Course is a privately owned property. It is owned by the Honk! Group and managed under a lease.

In its present form, the course is losing money. Honk! Group is proposing to re-develop it and create a retirement village and a four-hole, Greg Turner designed course that evokes some of the most famous golf holes in the sport.

To do so, the Group needs Papakura District Council to lift a restriction (encumbrance) on part of the property’s title. Read more

A draft management plan for Papakura District’s iconic Pukekiwiriki Reserve has been released for public comment by Papakura District Council.

It recognises the site’s cultural, archaeological and geological significance to the region and to Iwi Māori of Papakura District.

Council Announces Accent Point Upgrade

Papakura District Council has announced moves to enhance and revitalise the Accent Point complex in downtown Papakura.

It will sell its part-share in the complex to co-owners Verus Holdings Ltd (VHL) and will lease space on the street-accessible level three to bring the Sir Edmund Hillary Public Library and the Ernest Clarke Memorial Museum down one floor.

This project significantly improves access to the Library and Museum for all users, and gives people many more opportunities to enjoy these community assets.
