Proposed Vehicle
Restrictions
Consultation on the
proposal closed at 5.00 pm on 4 June 2010.
Papakura District Council is
seeking public feedback on a proposal to implement a restriction on
vehicles under 3500kg from entering specified areas of the District
between the hours of 10pm and 5am daily unless the driver is able to
show there is a legitimate purpose to them being in that location. The
impetus for this proposal is to address illegal and antisocial behaviour
associated with people congregating in vehicles generally within
industrial areas outside of normal business hours.
The proposed areas for
restrictions are:
-
Takanini Business Area –
being Spartan Road, part of Oakleigh Ave, Westbrook Ave, Rawson Way,
Rangi Road, Heb Place, Marphona Crescent and part of Takanini School
Road.
-

being part of Norrie Road, Firth Street and Creek Street.
Hunua Industrial Area – being part of Boundary Road, Parker Street,
Croskery Road, Markedo Place, Berlane Place, Margaret Williams
Drive, part of Dominion Road, and Dent Place.
-
Gatland Road
-
Unsealed section at the
end of Old Wairoa Road

Pukekiwiriki Reserve
Management Plan
Consultation on the draft management plan for Papakura District’s iconic
Pukekiwiriki Reserve has now closed.
The plan recognises the site’s cultural, archaeological and geological
significance to the region and to Iwi Māori of Papakura District. It has
been prepared with the guidance of the Kaitiaki group that advises the
Council on matters affecting Mana Whenua in the District.
Central to the plan is a partnership with Mana Whenua which recognises
the customary authority of an iwi or hapú over what happens to a site
such as Pukekiwiriki.
Copies of the draft management plan are available from Papakura District
Council, 35 Coles Crescent, Papakura; at the Sir Edmund Hillary Library,
level four, Accent Point, Papakura, or

Mill Road Corridor Study
The Mill Road
Corridor is an important link between Drury, Papakura and Manukau. As
the region grows, we will need to develop this eastern route to cater
for pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle traffic. Papakura District Council
is developing a long term plan for the road network between Alfriston in
the north of the District to Drury in the south by preparing a Mill Road
Corridor Management Plan.
A series of information days held in late 2009 and early 2010 gave
residents an opportunity to meet the project team, ask questions and get
to know more about the project. The following information was made
available at those meetings:
