Moving towards a single council The councils in the Auckland region have been working cooperatively to move smoothly to the new Auckland Council on 1 November 2010. That cooperation has helped us standardise Building Consent online information and produce a single set of associated forms. You can use these forms now at any local government organisation in the Auckland area. Building Consents and Electrical/Gasfitting Work The Building Amendment Act and the Electricity and Gas Acts 1992, introduced changes to the traditional permit system for electrical and gasfitting works. Prescribed electrical work and gasfitting is now referred to as Energy Work. Is Energy Work included in my Building Consent? Will this affect my Building Consent? Will this affect my Building Consent? Part F of the Building Consent Application Form relates to the Energy Work. The first section should be completed and signed in all cases. Where Energy Work is included in the rest of the project, ALL of Part F should be completed. If a Compliance Schedule feature or system is included in the project, then a waiver or modification from the Building Code or Approved Documents is necessary. Where a waiver or modification is granted by the Council, then the Council will notify the Building Industry Authority of the details. Where a Compliance Schedule item is included, confirmation of whether or not it requires prescribed electrical or gasfitting work, is necessary. If you're unsure of whether a waiver or modification is necessary, then you should seek technical advice from an electrician, gasfitter or electrical designer. What should I do when the work is completed? Where Energy Work is included in a Building Consent you must notify the Council and provide an Energy Work Certificate. The Certificates are issued by electricians, gasfitters, qualified engineers, electrical or gas inspectors. Where the work has been included in the Building Consent, the Council will not be able to issue a Code of Compliance Certificate, until Energy Work Certificates are provided. |
