The Auckland region will move to a new local government structure from
November 1 with one Auckland Council established as a regional unitary
authority and local boards serving the communities of the region. The
Auckland Transition Agency established by the Government is working to
amalgamate the councils across the Auckland Region into a new Auckland
Council by October 2010.
